In a DJ career spanning more than 25 years, Gary Young can rightly be called a veteran of the house music scene. His infectious enthusiasm for all things dance related continue to win him friends and fans alike.

HISTORY

Until his move to the sunny shores of Marbella, Spain in 2002, Gary was to be found playing regularly in various venues in Glasgow and the surrounding areas, usually 4 nights a week and sometimes 2 gigs a night. In his time he has been resident or guested at most of the major clubs in Glasgow , including The Tunnel, Common (Formerly Babaza) , Buddha, Yang, Corinthian and Archaos to name just a few. In his time at Archaos, he was one of a team of residents at what was the hottest club in the city at that time, with over 1500 clubbers packing out the club every Saturday night. At Archaos he played on nights where guests included the likes of David Morales, Roger Sanchez, Yousef, Judge Jules, Lisa Loud etc. He has also played alongside the cream of Scottish DJ talent, such as Stevie “Sole” Middleton (Solemusic) & Jon Mancini (Colours) to name two.

Because of his wealth of experience, Gary is comfortable playing various styles, whether it be a deep soulful vibe or a more chunky electronic style, he can adapt and give the crowd the energy and passion they are looking for.

Upon moving to Marbella, Gary limited his gigs , preferring quality to quantity and even turned his hand to promoting with his So Be… and Casa parties, which he put on a few years ago and he has now along with DJ Scott Rowell started a new party called “Switch Presents” with which he intends to do small intimate parties for likeminded house music lovers. In summer 2008 Gary became one of the resident team of DJ’s at the LoveDove parties held each Saturday at the Café Del Mar, Marbella with a 13 hour session running from 3pm – 4am, playing alongside world famous artists such as Robin S, D:Ream & K-Klass. This also led to him becoming part of the resident team involved with the world renowned clubbing brand Cream in Marbella also playing alongside some of the world’s foremost DJ talent and in summer 2009 he played for Cream on the beach in Gibraltar with artists such as Pete Tong, Axwell, Judge Jules, Brandon Block and John Kelly to name a few.

Now having returned back to his hometown of Glasgow he intends to carry on his love affair with house music in all it’s many forms.

RADIO

In 2005 Gary started a show on leading online house music station SS Radio UK and brought in fellow Marbella DJ’s John Hobbs and Mitchell T to work with him on it and the show was christened the Hype Show and it went on to become one of the most popular shows on the station, regularly featuring in the most listened to and podcasted shows each week.

He has also co-hosted the Lovedove Experience radio show along side fellow Cream resident Jay G, which was broadcast every saturday night on Global 96.5 FM . Following on from that Gary presented his Weekend Warm Up show on Energy 88.5 FM every weekday night from 9.00pm – 1.00 am. With a mixture of the best house music from the past, present and future and the latest clubland and music news, it was another exciting chapter in his radio career. Following on from that he presented the Switch Sessions radio show on The Beat 106.1 FM every Saturday from 6 -8 pm warming up the Costa Del Sol for their Saturday night manouvers. Currently Gary is presenting the Switch Sessions radio show on Glasgow’s newest online radio station Groove City Radio (www.groovecityradio.com) every Saturday night from 10pm – midnight.

INTERNATIONAL GIGS

As well as playing all over Scotland and Southern Spain, Gary has also had some international bookings:

PRODUCTION / REMIXING

Needing something new to devote his creative energies to, Gary has now taken on the role of producer/remixer and in 2008 along with production partner John Hobbs completed a remix for Celebrity Records of the Scott Wozniak track “Give Me A Sign”, which is available in Traxsource. He and John Hobbs also have 2 more remixes completed, namely “Erase” by Dirty Turk & Ralph Session on AudioJazz Recordings (Unreleased as yet) and also “Aircon” by The Beatthiefs & Rebecca Forrest on Rapid Fire Records, so production looks like it will be another exciting string to Gary’s bow.

With new projects in the pipeline, Gary shows no signs of slowing down and continues to bring his love of great house music to the masses.
